Grayline Hobbiton, Caves, and Kiwi Tour

Well, it was an early start to say at least, we had to be at the bus stop for 6:45 am and even though that seems early we were staying 2 hours 40mins away, so we were up at 4 am. Yep, 4 am sigh! But hey ho we were still excited to go on our first tour of beautiful New Zealand.

This was one of those tours where it takes you to a few selected destinations for a quick whistle stop of adventure.

Once we go on the bus, we were given a morning snack which consisted of a bottle of water and two very delicious individually wrapped cookies.

The coach was very luxurious, we had our pick of seats as the bus wasn’t full, and each came with its air-conditioning system, and the seats were retractable (perfect for a little-needed nap), our seats even came with USB ports so you could charge your mobile, fantastic as your battery gets so low with all the pictures and videos your be taking throughout the day.

We headed off to our first destination ‘Hobbiton’ (eeeeeeeeekk I literally could not wait), and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

Back onto the coach for a little while, we continued listening to our driver/ tour guide, he was very informative and told us all about New Zealand’s history. He also knew a lot about the excursions we were going on; this was great to hear and made my anxiety relax a little as I was more familiar with what was going to happen.

Wow, that was quick, and we had arrived at our second destination Ruakuri caves. What a beautiful place and we got to see glow worms close up too, it was awesome.

Back on the couch again and off to the ‘Kiwi House’ we went, literally just twenty minutes down the road and we were there.

We arrived back a little early to the coach, so we had a little chat with our driver (John). He was knowledgeable about both the main islands and gave us some great spots to visit while we are here.

As we boarded the coach we got another snack pack, this one had a little delicious chicken and cheese salad crossing roll with four handmade cookies. The cookies were as far as I could tell and golden crunch and a cornflake and dried fruits, they were handmade and super tasty.

As we were on our way back, after the sun had gone down, John our driver, turned down the lights and let us sleep until we had reached Auckland again. This was about 7 pm, we thanked John, and he wished us safe travels back to our accommodation.
