A Horrible Experience At Restaurante Alameda In Tarifa

We were walking along the beautiful coastline of Tarifa we got a little bit peckish so we decided to stop at literally the first restaurant we sore, probably should’ve been a warning sign but it was filled with locals and it was in a convenient location at the end of the coastal road, opposite the port.

Food Quality

I ordered a Caesar salad and a four cheese pizza. Lee ordered a cheeseburger with chips and salad. My salad was caked in an unusual dressing, it was edible but the taste was incredibly strong, needless to say I didn’t finish it (which is not like me,lol). The pizza was a little lacklustre also, the base was almost raw and the cheese used was so strong in taste it was almost inedible for me. This may have been my mistake because I must have misread the menu as it names the strong blue cheese as one of the ingredients. I have to say at this point I wasn’t particularly impressed with my food. Nor was Lee at this point either his cheeseburger was not fresh but a cooked frozen burger with a slice of unmelted cheese. His side salad on the same plate as his meal also came with tuna on top! Lol Lee hates tuna and was in disbelief it came next to his burger. (This wasn’t stated on his menu).

Value for Money

This wasn’t a budget restaurant but the food sure seemed like it. The food was averagely priced I think it came to about 30 Euros for everything but we felt a little cheated about being charged for olives we didn’t ask for or eat. But again this is standard practice in south Spain. We wish we had looked further into town but we were hungry and as I said previously, we just stopped at the first place we sore.

Atmosphere

The atmosphere was lovely, we sat in the conservatory. Locals had filled the restaurant’s tables outside and were filled with the joy of conversion. This may be too much for some as the volume was reaching high levels at times but it was lovely sitting in the warm and socking in the very Spanish atmosphere.

It wasn’t the best food and certainly wouldn’t eat there again but it was an okay stop after a beautiful walk along the Tarifa coastline.
