The Grand Hotel in Yomanto

We went out for lee’s mum’s birthday to Falvey’s Grand Hotel in Yomanto; this is a restaurant with function rooms. As we walked in the table had been moved specially and decorated, and the staff were accommodating for this.

The grand hotel we went to is based in Yamanto; it has a very spacious place its set up to be able to handle large functions, parties or wedding receptions. This has, however, did leave the space feeling less like a cosy family restaurant and more mass of space designed to be a function room for instance.

Food Quality

I ordered the steak burger, with chips and a side salad. The stake in the burger was terrific very generous portions, so soft and just melted in my mouth. The side salad came in the burger and to be fair was tiny, not really what I expected when you order a ‘side salad’ but everything in all tasted nice. Lee though wasn’t so happy with his meal, he had a chicken parmigiana and could taste the fact it wasn’t freshly made and had been frozen, and the peppercorn sauce he had with it was congeiled a little. It’s really like we ate at two different restaurants in regards to the quality of our meals.

Value for Money

Lee’s and my meal came to around forty dollars with drinks, that’s approximately twenty pounds with the exchange rate we got. I think that’s reasonably back home we would have been paying around £30 for a similar meal. Also, they have a membership scheme which only requires a name and address, and you get the discounted members-only price on all of the meals any time of the day.

Atmosphere

To be honest, there wasn’t much of an atmosphere, as I said space I think is a little too big for a cosy feeling but the staff are really friendly, helpful and courteous, I had a problem with my drink tasting a bit odd, and they exchanged it with no problem at all. They also run a bingo /numbers game where you could win a few dollars while you eat.

I would go back even if it were just to have that burger again, yum!
