Normandy, A French Region That Never Disappoint You!

Just two hours drive away from Paris, the Calvados area in Normandy offers a nice panorama of beaches, French terroir products and a relaxing atmosphere.

First stop of this 24-hour trip is the romantic city of Cabourg (hometown of the Romantic film festival for 30 years). Take a walk along the seaside and admire the wonderful coast. Stop at the chic “Dupont avec un thé” to taste the most delicious madeleines and other French delicacies. Then go to the casino to experience gambling and its specific atmosphere.

Second stop is Ouistreham, tragic landing stage of British soldiers during WW2. Stroll on the beach and discover monuments, statues that testify of that period of time, finally head to the “bunker museum” to reminisce that war is never too far from us and that we must learn from our common past.

Third stop is Villers-sur-mer, a natural haven for hiking and sailing freaks, when exploring the surroundings, capture the beauty of the seashore and go on an expedition on the great geological site “la falaise des vaches noires” where at low tide you can catch fossils, shells and observe magnificent chalk cliffs.

Last but not least, end your day in Caen, a city that combines great architectural jewels with modern buildings. Visit first the castle of William the conqueror, eat a Chef’s special (creamy “moules” – mussels with fries for example) and party hard at the “El Che Guevara” bar.
