Pura Taman Ayun, The Temple You Cant Go Into

Pura Taman Ayun is a compound of Balinese temple and garden with water features. Pura Taman Ayun is in the Mengwi district in Badung Regency, in Bali. Pura Taman Ayun itself is on a large rectangle piece of land. Unfortunately, we were not allowed to walk in the temple itself. But you could quite clearly see everything from the path alongside.

You will find Pura Taman Ayun is surrounded by a body of water (a moat, if you please) and a luscious border of green grass and traditional foliage. As you walk around you can see the full scope of the beautiful buildings in the traditional Balinese style, they almost look like these beautiful wooden crafted cubes with layers of roofs on top of them.

Learn a bit more about the cockfighting culture here in Bali.

This is a fully working temple. Still used today for the various festive celebrations. It is a feast for the eyes, with carved wood, detailed stonework, luscious natural elements too.

Oh and don’t miss the large traditional figurine of Dewi Sri (the goddess of rice). You will find her sitting in a pavilion near the toilets. She is beautiful a worth a small detour.
